Final Flings with Things (I hope)

After checking with Jason I found I had not mentioned some of my forays into Things so I couldn't be signed off. Hoping this is remedied now.... please. I can't take another thing.

Thing 8: http://www.abc.net.au/rn/podcast/feeds/breakfast.xml is my chosen podcast which resides in my Bookmarks on Mozilla Firefox

Thing 12: Link to my LibraryThing

Thing 19: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=d9c73dr_1gj4mj9z9&hl=en

Thing 20: I found this book on Google Books
The Joy of Doing Things Badly: A Girl's Guide to Love, Life and Foolish Bravery
by Veronica Chambers - Self-Help - 2006 - 237 page

I now would now like to invite anyone interested to tune into my new travel blog which I hope to do whilst I am away: Jason could you add to the list please.

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS

THING from the Addams Family

The name LIBRARY 2.0 reminds me something I would like to forget - studying. There must be another name we can use to describe all these groovy things we can implement to make visiting the library an enjoyable experience for all those Milleniums. Or are we trying too hard? Maybe we librarians will become known as "Try hards" and forever scorned by those under the age of 21. I agree with somebody in one of the many pages I read that libraries need to think long and hard about effort versus result and have a considered strategy for introducing techno whizzo library services with definite outcomes in mind.

However I must say I did enjoy some of the "Things" where I could be creative and interactive and feel like I wasn't totally someone who was scared to try something new. I may stick to blogs and use Flickr as I see them having an application in my life particularly when travelling.I have fallen in love with iGoogle and love looking at maps. Also I say bring on blogs and wikkis etc in the library pages.
Overall Jason did a marvellous job setting up this course and it will have lasting benefits for all of us.

A fishy story

I have created my iGoogle home page and it is lovely, I have fish swimming around and a fishy top banner. I love being able to have a list of things to do and see what the weather is in Zagreb. Amazing.
Here is my banner:

Facing up to it

Just to prove that I know how Facebook works I have cut and pasted this email from the Facebook team after my foray into the world of social networking where I asked my daughter if we could be friends and she replied to me (see below) I remain convinced that social networking will not become my hobby unless the age demographic changes!

"Bridie wrote on your Wall:

"hi mumma"

To see your wall or to write on Bridie's Wall, follow the link below:

Telly Tube -ies

Maybe its on You Tube that I am known as Bellter. Anyway I did sign on to create an account but had nothing to put there. I have enjoyed a number of videos that others have made - does that count? Can't wait for Facebook

Flickr flack

I have signed up for yet another account Yahoo after already Googling, Facebooking and Blogging. How will I keep track of all these user names? I would not have thought I had a common moniker but it appears that I have, so I had to come up with a number of variations on a theme . The one I like best is Bellter (not sure where I used it though! ). I have also uploaded 3 photos onto Flickr which seemed to take a veeerrry looong tiiime.

I have the DTs

I have dutifully explored Delicious and Technorati and was disappointed that Delicious had nothing to do with food although I might find it useful in small bites. Technorati doesn't grab me - maybe I need a a few hours to appreciate its aims.

Having fun

Wikimania

I always love to change things so Wikinations suit me. I love "The Sound of Music" also so I felt a few little images related to the movie on the Wiki home page would gladden your little hearts.

I wanted to have a COOL IMAGE

this is the Logo of the new club I am forming - if you are as cool as me you can join! I will be the sole judge of whether you can meet the various criteria of "coolness"

As for the wiki site - I wonder why Jason seemd to have it locked for editing on 3 different occasions when I tried to have my wiki way with it.

Only Peoplelikeme May Laugh (OPML)

sometimes I wonder how I came to be living in the 21st Century - my brain is not wired the right way to deal with weekly technological challenges. It took me much longer than it should have done to work out how to import the "opm" l feed into my reader. Somehow my neurological synapses did not fire when I read and reread the instructions - it was trial and error and mainly error before I managed this task! I predict I will be "thinged out " before too long

One, two .....

I found adding extensions to my Firefox browser was on par with getting hair extensions - just joking it did not quite take that long and as yet I have not had hair extensions . ,It was not totally clear to me at first that I had to access the Plugin Page first but after that it was easy peasy. Morning Coffee goes with Friday footy tips

23 things that take time

Well I thought I could get on top of things but things ended up getting on top of me. First I had to find the time to start the 23 things and I have a PHD in Procrastination when I need to tackle dreaded technological tasks. Then of course I needed to get headphones and actually sit down at my computer but I found that Jason's voice had a hypnotic effect on me so that I went into a deep trance instead of paying attention so had to watch the video three times. Finally bells started ringing but then my allotted time was up and the Information ? Desk was calling loudly. However I have got this far so will try not to be thingy about it next time.
